LOST LOVE #2:  21 YEARS AND WAITING

SOLD Fall 2013 - This particular painting has several songs associated with it.  The underlying text that you can see particularly well in the closeups are all verses from love songs. Again the swirling design indicates the movement of emotions, thoughts, and growth.  21 hearts that each represent the years passed.

Sometimes you meet someone that always stays deep in your heart but you can't figure out why.  It could have been decades ago, but somehow you had this inexplicable connection.  Whether it was your first love, first heartbreak, best friend from grade school, first big break with your career, first mentor, all of the people who transit through your life leave a mark, sometimes imperceptible at first, and only if you choose to go back and think deeply about them do you discover the lessons they were to teach us.  Even people who you only meet briefly, say in an airport or even on the street because they picked up your dropped cell phone and ran across to give it to you.  They are all here in a moment and then gone.

if you are lucky enough to be able to reconnect and revisit with a special someone from years past, enjoy it for what it is worth for that fleeting time. Perhaps you will reunite and stay connected forever, and perhaps you will just be a temporary "gift" to each other to help remember who you are, and how much you have grown in the years apart or to help you move onto the next phase in your journey.  But in thinking about a gift and giving, we all move on or discard appropriately the gifts once their usefulness has been completed.  So although this painting is full of passionate love songs and wishes - that love and wishes have been appropriately put away and the time to move on and put things behind has come.  Although, I am able to remember and appreciate the gift that was given to me, I no longer have use for it as I have adopted a new philosophy on gifts that I would like to share.

My philosophy on gifts:  This last holiday season, in alignment with my "temporal " viewpoint, I decided to give gifts to friends and loved ones that started with the letter "C" (in honor of Carenna too).  I wanted to give useful gifts that would NOT clutter ones life.  Thus, many of you received Calendars (personalized with pictures of us), Chai (my most amazing chai recipe and all the ingredients), Chocolate, Certificates and Cards (gift) and cookies (decorated by Carenna).  I fully expect the recipients of my gifts, once they have enjoyed them to discard them - after all, you wouldn't keep a 2013 calendar hanging up in 2014, nor would you keep a chocolate wrapper or cookie box...and except for the mason jar containing the chai ingredients, I hope that you will enjoy and move on and avoid the clutter that we all try to keep in check.  But I hope that any feelings of joy that you experienced from my modest gifts continue to make your heart feel light.
